Puzzle Piece Project. 2011. Objective: The students will explore the use of solder and heat in order to combine three distinct metals in a unique way. I loved working with the solder in this project and tried my best to incorporate a variety of attachments. From butt joints to sweat joints and inlays, this was a very complex project!
Found Object Rings. 2011. Objectives: In this found object project, the students will bring in found objects and create a series of wearable objects in only one class period. I enjoyed making these rings from different screws and buttons by using epoxy and soldering techniques.
Necklace and Ring. Found object. 2011. Objective: The students will bring in found objects for their materials in order to create cold connections. The students must use at least three cold connections in their project. It must also be wearable. I loved this project because I was able to incorporate some of my favorite things: buttons, fabric, and beads!
Cast Rings. 2011. Objective: The students will cast at least one ring from either silver, bronze, or both. The rings must be finished in a way that emphasizes the composition. Craft will be a key component of the grading process. In this project, I worked with both bronze and silver, and enjoyed creating molds from soft wax and found objects.
